Solar System Tour Project
Objective:
You and a partner(s) will research one planet/feature in our solar system and create a poster board along with a model of your planet that is to scale with the rest of the solar system. Your poster board will include pictures, and information explaining interesting aspects of your planet. You and your partner will determine your planet's distance away from the sun and pace it out accordingly on the field where you will set up an information station. As students tour through “space” you will teach them about your planet.
Instructions:
Using this website, http://www.exploratorium.edu/ronh/solar_system/ and a diameter of 240 inches (20 feet) for the Sun, you will find the relative size of your planet and its distance from the Sun. On your poster board, answer the following questions along with any other relevant information you find.
Research Information:

On your poster board, answer the following questions along with any other relevant information you find.
Research Information:
- How far is your object away from our Sun in kilometers and miles? Demonstrate how to calculate one fiftieth of the scale we are using.
- Diameter of your object in kilometers and miles.
- Where your object is located in space relative to other planets in our solar system?
- What is your planet mostly made of?
- What is the general temperature of your planet?
- How many moons does your planet have?
- How long does your planet take to orbit the sun?
- What are three unique features of your planet?
